I am a PhD biochemist and registered patent attorney with more than 35 years of experience in patent prosecution, opinions, and intellectual property strategy, including substantial work in biotechnology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals. Before entering law, I spent seven years as a senior scientist in industry, and over the course of my legal career I have worked in large law firms, built a long-standing solo practice, and obtained more than 400 patents for clients. I am also an inventor with issued patents and pending applications of my own, have recent hands-on experience with AI-assisted invention development and patent-related work, and am the author of The US Patent System: A Practical Guide to the Law, Practice and Procedure.
